This is not an ordinary quartz watch, but a genuine techno-artifact of the "Quartz Revolution" era. In the 1970s, Omega spared no expense on technology: their quartz calibers were often more expensive than mechanical ones and were assembled with manufacture-level precision. The specimen presented here is a rare certified chronometer housed in an iconic octagonal case.

The "heart" of the watch is the in-house Omega 1343 caliber. It is one of the brand's earliest and most complex quartz movements, highly prized by collectors today for its unique engineering.

The movement features a distinctive hand-setting system that often surprises enthusiasts: Minutes and Seconds: Adjusted by pressing a button integrated into the crown (Motorized Setting). Holding the button causes the hands to spin rapidly via a micro-motor. Hours: Changed by the standard pulling of the crown, but they move in one-hour jumps. This is a "Time Zone" function, allowing you to change time zones without disrupting the precision of the second hand. The movement proudly displays "Seven 7 Jewels," highlighting its serviceability and longevity - a stark contrast to the inexpensive plastic quartz movements of later years.

The stainless steel case features a distinct octagonal shape - "The Octagon" - with integrated lugs. This is a prime example of 1970s futuristic design, inspired by the works of Gérald Genta. The combination of satin-brushed surfaces and polished bevels creates a striking architectural look. The caseback is adorned with the famous Observatory medallion beneath a starry sky, a hallmark of the Constellation line.

Completing the authentic aesthetic is a vibrant green strap from the German brand Nowack Club. This is a New Old Stock (NOS) piece from the 1970s, crafted from high-quality calfskin with a textured "Shark Grain" embossing. This exotic texture was at the peak of fashion in the 70s and perfectly complements the bold case design.

This Omega Constellation is a choice for both the collector and the daily wearer. You are acquiring not just a brand, but a unique time-setting technology and a rare geometric design that is once again coming back into style.

BRAND HISTORY

The history of Omega began in 1848 when young watchmaker Louis Brandt opened a small workshop in the Swiss town of La Chaux-de-Fonds. What started as local pocket watch production eventually transformed into a global symbol of Swiss quality.

A pivotal moment in the company's history occurred in 1894. The founder's sons developed a revolutionary movement - the "19-line" caliber - which was distinguished by exceptional precision and ease of maintenance. This invention was so perfect that it was named Omega - the last letter of the Greek alphabet, symbolizing completion, perfection, and the highest achievement. Soon, this name became the official moniker for the entire company.

Throughout the 20th century, Omega cemented its status as a pioneer in timekeeping. Since 1932, the brand has been the longstanding official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, recording world records down to the thousandth of a second. However, the greatest recognition came with the conquest of space: Omega watches passed NASA's rigorous tests and became the only ones to visit the Moon with the astronauts of the Apollo 11 mission.

A special chapter in the manufacture's chronicle is the 1970s - an era of technological triumph and the "Quartz Revolution." At a time when many brands were merely struggling to adapt to new realities, Omega led the race for ultra-precision. The company invested colossal resources into developing its own High-End quartz calibers. In the 70s, Omega quartz movements were not cheap alternatives but true engineering masterpieces: they cost significantly more than their classic mechanical counterparts, held Marine Chronometer certification, and demonstrated precision unattainable by previous generations. These developments allowed the brand to maintain its leadership and innovator status during one of the most turbulent periods in horological history.

Today, Omega remains one of the world's most influential watch houses. Combining historical heritage with modern technologies, such as anti-magnetic alloys and the Co-Axial escapement, the manufacture continues to create watches that stand as the benchmark for prestige, reliability, and impeccable style.
