This 1960s Bergana gold watch is a prime example of German precision paired with Swiss mechanical excellence.
The case is crafted from 14K solid gold (585 hallmark), known for its durability and pleasing warm tone. The understated ivory dial remains in pristine condition, featuring only elegant applied gold markers and slender hands, ensuring excellent legibility. This timepiece has been preserved in museum-quality condition, perfectly capturing the classic aesthetics of the "golden era."
However, the true treasure lies within. The watch is powered by a rare, premium version of the Swiss manual-wind ETA 2409 caliber. This is no ordinary "workhorse," but an exclusive 21-jewel modification.
What makes it unique? The movement features capped jewels in chatons on the escapement and train wheel bridges. This rare technical refinement is typically reserved for chronometers and high-end timepieces. These capped jewels not only look luxurious against the gold-plated bridges but also serve a vital function: they retain lubrication and minimize friction, making the movement virtually "everlasting." The reliable Incabloc system completes the architecture, protecting this mechanical beauty from shocks.
The collector's value is further enhanced by its accessories: the watch is fitted with a vintage black strap from the German brand "Nowack Club," crafted from premium, supple Nappa leather. It is the perfect choice for a connoisseur of understated luxury and dependable mechanics.

BRAND HISTORY
BRAND HISTORY
The history of Bergana is a classic saga of the German "Economic Miracle" (Wirtschaftswunder) and a true rebirth from the ashes.
The brand's roots date back to 1909, when Wilhelm Beutter founded his workshop in Germany’s "Golden City" - Pforzheim. For centuries, this city had been the heart of the country's jewelry and watchmaking industry.
However, the true birth of the Bergana brand occurred after the Second World War. Following the total destruction of the factory by bombings in 1945, the founder’s sons, Wilhelm Jr. and Eugen (a graduate of the prestigious school in Glashütte), did more than just rebuild the family business - they elevated it to a new level. Registering the Bergana trademark in the late 1950s, they placed their bets on quality and elegance.
During the 1960s, the era of this particular watch, Bergana became synonymous with reliable German mechanics. The company was famous for its refusal to cut corners on components, utilizing the finest Swiss (ETA) and German (PUW) movements, while their cases were often crafted by the renowned jewelry houses of Pforzheim. Today, a vintage Bergana stands as a monument to an era when "Made in Germany" signified uncompromising quality in every minute detail.
