Finding a vintage gold watch is a rare feat, but discovering one in New Old Stock (NOS) condition elevates it to the "Time Capsule" collector category.
This Blumus specimen has been preserved in absolutely untouched condition, displaying the factory geometry and luster exactly as it did in the 1960s. The primary visual highlight is the champagne dial featuring a rare horizontal "Bark Finish." This is not merely standard "linen," but a deep, relief structure reminiscent of natural wood or Raw Silk. Thanks to this complex texture, the dial does not glare but rather softly diffuses light, creating a rich, velvety hue. Applied gold markers and hands gleam against this background, underscoring the piece's jewelry-grade status.
The case is crafted from solid 14K gold (585 hallmark). Since the watch has neither been worn nor polished, the case edges remain perfectly sharp, and the hallmarks on the caseback are impressively crisp. The gold is free from the characteristic "spiderweb" of micro-scratches, serving as the ultimate proof of its careful collector storage.
Inside beats the reliable Swiss AS 1525 caliber (Adolf Schild) with 17 jewels and Incabloc shock protection. Visually, the movement appears brand new: the screw heads are unmarred, and the bridges are spotless. This is a classic "workhorse" of the Swiss industry that, in such condition, is poised to serve for decades to come.
Completing the look is a high-end strap from the Austrian brand HIRSCH. The model, from the "Louisianalook" series (alligator embossing) in a noble brown, perfectly complements the warm tone of the gold case.
This is a true find for the investor. A solid gold watch in NOS condition with a rare textured dial represents the perfect union of mid-century aesthetics and the eternal value of precious metal.

BRAND HISTORY
BRAND HISTORY
The Blumus brand is far more than a mere marketing label; it is anchored by a genuine historical figure - watchmaker Adolf Blümelink. In 1919, he established his firm, Uhrenfabrik Blümelink, in the very heart of Bavaria: Munich.
The BLUMUS name was officially registered as a trademark on March 30, 1927. It represents a classic acronym of the era: "BLU" derived from the surname Blümelink, "MU" from the city of Munich (München), and "S" serving as a characteristic suffix for brands of that period.
Following World War II, Adolf Blümelink became one of the first Bavarian entrepreneurs to revive watch production. As early as 1948–1949, while Germany was just beginning to rebuild, Blumus resumed the manufacture of wristwatches. This coincided with the "Economic Miracle" (Wirtschaftswunder), a time when a gold watch on the wrist served as the ultimate symbol of success and stability in the new era.
Blumus operated as a high-grade Etablisseur. Blümelink understood that while German cases offered superior reliability, Swiss movements provided unmatched precision. Consequently, solid gold cases - crafted in Pforzheim or Munich - were fitted with top-tier calibers from Swiss giants such as ETA and A. Schild (AS).
Like many honest mechanical manufactures, Blumus could not survive the "Quartz Crisis" of the late 1970s. The company vanished, leaving behind only a limited number of specimens that stand today as genuine time capsules.
